The Hawks were beaten by a flattering score line in this top versus bottom clash.
The 9-1 score line flattered Albany, but they did run out deserved winners.
The Hawks held their own in the opening period, playing some good football and may have felt their efforts deserved some rewards. The half started with a controversial hard tackle from an Albany play with saw Cummings end up crashing into one of the artificial walls that enclose the court. The Albany player was given a well justified yellow card. Had this been later in the game, he could have received a red.
Despite the Hawks good play, Albany showed why they are top of the league by scoring freely. A change at halftime (Houghton for SWA) could not stop the goals from being conceded. The Hawks goal came in the second half in a similar manor to the only goal against Aparell Master, Houghton down the right flank, his shot rebounds to the centre of the box, for Lawrence to convert.
The next Washington 5-a-side League game is 7.00pm Friday 23rd March against Inter Ya Mam, on Court 2. The Hawks will be without Aldridge, Borthwick, Houghton and Wilson as they will be sunning it up in Tenerife.
